Prodotto dall’artista stesso insieme a Don Was e registrato agli Henson Studios di Los Angeles, “Sob Rock” segna il ritorno da solista di Mayer dopo “The Search for Everything” del 2017. “Last Train Home” è caratterizzato dalle classiche sonorità che contraddistinguono Mayer e Maren Morris ha un cameo all’interno della traccia e del video mentre il percussionista Lenny Castro (Toto) e il tastierista Greg Phillinganes (Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson, Toto) hanno collaborato alla stesura del brano.
