I 69 anni di Sting

Buon compleanno Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner: Sting compie oggi 69 anni!

Una carriera di successi da solista e con i Police, band seminale che a cavallo tra anni ’70 e anni ’80 ha creato un genere mischiando rock, pop e funky. Ha scritto indimenticabili hit come “Every Breath You Take”, “Can’t Stand Losing You” e “Don’t Stand So Close To Me” ma anche “Money For Nothing” per i Dire Straits insieme a Mark Knopfler.

Insieme a Stewart Copeland e Andy Summers fonda The Police nel 1977 e pubblica con la band cinque album di inediti: “Outlandos D’Amour” (1978), “Reggatta De Blanc” (1979), “Zenyatta Mondatta” (1980), “Ghost In The Machine” (1981) e “Synchronicity” (1983). Il gruppo si sciolse nel 1984 per riunirsi nel 2007 e dare vita a un tour mondiale che li portò anche allo Stadio Delle Alpi di Torino. Nel 2008 si sciolsero definitivamente.

Da solista Sting ha pubblicato 14 album di inediti di cui l’ultimo è “44/876” insieme a Shaggy. Inconfondibile voce di successi come “Fields Of Gold”, “Englishman In The New York” e “Brand New Day”, l’artista inglese è anche un attore e ha prestato la sua arte in film come “Quadrophenia”, “Dune” e “Zooander 2”.
