U2: il 2 aprile 1987 partiva il “The Joshua Tree Tour”

Il 2 aprile 1987 partiva da Tempe, in Arizona, il “The Joshua tree Tour” degli U2, tournée che presentava in scaletta per la prima volta il mitico disco “The Joshua Tree” uscito il 9 marzo 1987.

Tra aprile e e dicembre il tour della band irlandese ha toccato Nord America ed Europa arrivando in Italia il 27 maggio allo Stadio Flaminio di Roma e il 29 e 30 maggio doppia data allo Stadio Braglia di Modena.

Durante il tour è stato girato parte del documentario “Rattle And Hum” uscito poi nel 1988. Tra le cover eseguite spesso ci sono brani dei Beatles (“Help!”, “Helter Skelter”), Eddie Cochran (“C’Mon Everybody”), Neil Young (“Southern Man”), Impressions (“People Get Ready”) e Bob Dylan (tra cui “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door”, “Maggie’s Farm” e “I Shall Be Released”).

Tra gli artisti che hanno fatto da supporters agli U2 ricordiamo alcuni nomi importanti: Pretenders, UB40, Little Steven, Los Lobos, The Pogues.
Tra i brani eseguiti raramente figurano in scaletta “11 O’Clock Tick Tock”, “Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)” e l’allora inedito “When Love Comes To Town”.
